The are has become a tourist attraction because of the annual International İzmir Festival which is held mid-year each year. There is also the International İzmir Short Film Festival each year which brings many British nationals to Turkey. If you have lost your passport you can also ask about emergency travel documents while in Turkey. If the Consulate cannot assist you then speak or email the British Embassy in Ankara for more advice and assistance.
